Early Life
Ford grew up in the Chicago suburbs and attended Ripon College in Wisconsin. He worked as a carpenter in Los Angeles while pursuing small acting roles.
Career
George Lucas cast him in American Graffiti (1973) and then as Han Solo in Star Wars (1977). He played Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and four sequels, and starred in Blade Runner (1982), Witness (1985), for which he earned an Oscar nomination, and The Fugitive (1993). He returned to the Star Wars saga in The Force Awakens (2015).
Legacy
Ford received the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2002 and an Honorary Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023.
