Early Life
Stefani Germanotta grew up in Manhattan and studied at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts before leaving to pursue music, performing in the city's downtown club scene.
Career
Her debut, The Fame (2008), featured “Just Dance” and “Poker Face”, followed by The Fame Monster (2009) with “Bad Romance”. She has recorded pop, jazz standards with Tony Bennett, and country-rock. She acted in A Star Is Born (2018) opposite Bradley Cooper, co-writing “Shallow”, which won an Oscar and a Grammy, and starred in House of Gucci (2021).
Legacy
Gaga performed the halftime show at Super Bowl LI in 2017. Through her Born This Way Foundation, founded in 2012, she has been a prominent advocate for youth mental health and LGBTQ+ rights.
