Early Life
De Niro grew up in Manhattan and studied acting with Stella Adler and at the Actors Studio.
Career
He won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for The Godfather Part II (1974) and Best Actor for Raging Bull (1980), and collaborated with Scorsese on Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Casino and The Irishman. He also starred in The Deer Hunter, Meet the Parents and Joker.
Legacy
De Niro co-founded the Tribeca Film Festival in 2002 to help revive lower Manhattan after the September 11 attacks. He received the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2011 and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016.
