Early Life
Curry studied English and drama at the University of Birmingham and began his career in the London stage musical Hair.
Career
He originated the role of Frank-N-Furter in the stage musical The Rocky Horror Show (1973) and reprised it in the 1975 film. His many screen roles include Legend (as the Lord of Darkness), Clue, Annie, and Pennywise in the miniseries It (1990), and he was a prolific voice actor in animation and video games.
Legacy
Curry suffered a stroke in 2012 and afterward used a wheelchair, continuing to work as a voice actor. He was nominated for Tony Awards for Amadeus (1981) and Spamalot (2005). He died at his home in Los Angeles on August 25, 2026, at age 80.
